Home Remedies for Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are formed when inflamed veins in our body swell with blood and cause problems. There are many reasons for Hemorrhoids. However, most hemorrhoids go away within days or weeks.

There are many remedies we can do at home to get rid of Hemorrhoids and prevent the recurrence of future ones.

Diet changes for hemorrhoids

Most hemorrhoids are caused by eating processed food with very little fiber in it. Processed and manufactured food contains preservatives, additives, coloring, hormones, pesticides and a lot of other products that are strange to the body’s digestive system. As a result, these products are not digested by the system and remain in the intestines and rectum causing stomach pains, gas, bloating and constipation. Obesity is also one of the major reasons for constipation. Reducing weight by following a simple diet is the best way to end Hemorrhoids.

Diet changes for hemorrhoids can start with adding more whole grains to your meals. Look for the word whole wheat or whole grain on the labels. Don’t be misled by the word (wheat and wheat flour which are the same as white flour! – constipating!!!). Eat more fruits and vegetables and also drink more pure water (tea, coffee, cola or milkshakes ARE NOT water…)

The benefits of fiber are tremendous. Fiber not only helps ease the movement of food through the stomach, it helps us lose weight, reduce cholesterol, triglycerides, etc; it also prevents a lot of diseases including diabetes. Also, sugar does not cause damage if eaten with a high fiber meal.

What are the other home remedies for hemorrhoids?

Sitting in warm baths with a sprinkling of healing herbs or soothing oils are good. Just make sure that they are good for you and will not aggravate your hemorrhoids. If you are not sure of the effects of soaps, bubble baths, etc., just use warm water to sit in for about 15 minutes.

Always use wet pads to wipe your anal area after a bowel movement. If wet pads are not available, use a wetted bathroom tissue and wipe gently. Always use a disinfectant before and after going to the bathroom.

How can exercise help hemorrhoids?

Exercise improves blood circulation. It is when the circulation is messed up that health issues such as varicose veins and hemorrhoids emerge. Also, exercise improves the condition of our muscles and joints.

If we are overweight, our body takes too much abuse from the excess baggage we carry around. Our muscles may become weaker and any pressure we put on them may cause more wear and tear.

When we sit for long periods, it is easier to get inflamed veins (simple hemorrhoids) and clots in the veins (thrombosed hemorrhoids). So simple exercises such as getting up every half an hour and stretching, doing jumping jacks (unless you are so obese that your system may go into shock) and maybe even walking around the block may help the blood circulation and eventually prevent hemorrhoids.

As we can see, there are several simple remedies that we can try to eliminate hemorrhoids from our life.
